Role details

As a Test Automation Engineer at Refined, you’ll be part of a senior, cross-functional product team working on our cloud solutions built for Atlassian’s ecosystem. These are products used daily by some of the world’s largest and most complex organizations – companies like Apple, Spotify, and NASA.

Your job is not just to test what others have built. It’s to help us build things that can be tested smartly. You’ll bring structure, automation, and clarity into a technically demanding environment where reliability, efficiency, and user experience truly matter.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for our cloud products

• Analyze feature requirements and define the best testing strategy: automated, exploratory, or a mix of both

• Identify inefficiencies in testing or code and suggest better approaches

• Continuously improve our automation pipelines and test infrastructure

• Collaborate daily with developers, designers, and product managers in Sweden and Finland

• Balance effort vs. impact: knowing when to go deep and when “good enough” is exactly right

Your first year at Refined

In 3 months: You’ll be familiar with our testing environment, tools, and team workflows.
In 6 months: You’ll independently own testing for your product area and be known as the go-to person for automation.
In 12 months: You’ll have contributed measurable improvements to our test coverage, efficiency, and product quality, and helped shape smarter testing practices company-wide.

Who you’ll work with

You’ll work closely with other engineers, product managers, and designers within your product team. The team lead, Alice’s style is trust-based and empowering – giving you the autonomy to make technical decisions and expecting you to take ownership of your area. Support is always there when you need it, but initiative is expected and valued.

Tools and environment

Our automation currently uses Playwright and Cypress, and you’ll also encounter JavaScript/TypeScript, CI/CD pipelines, and the Atlassian ecosystem (Confluence, Jira, Jira Service Management). If you’ve used Selenium or Robot Framework, your experience will translate well.
